Where Classes Meet

Classes are planned at Rainbow Beach Park, indoors at the fieldhouse when available and on the lawn in summer, with no water activities.

This is a Chicago Park District park in the South Region and the 7th Ward. Its official listing includes a fieldhouse with a gymnasium and a clubroom.

Status: the Chicago Park District has not yet approved the program or given permission to use space at this park. Everything below describes what we're requesting.

Indoors and outdoors

  • Fall through spring: indoors at the park's fieldhouse, when space is available.
  • Summer: outdoors on the park lawn, as the park approves, with shade and water breaks. If the weather turns, we'll move indoors or cancel. See weather and cancellations.

No water activities

Rainbow Beach is on the lakefront, but children do not swim during the program, and no part of the program takes place in the water. Children stay with their group and do not go to the shoreline during class.

What we'll share after the site walk

We will walk the site with park staff before launch. After that, we'll post:

  • the exact room or lawn area for each season
  • the entrance to use for drop-off and pickup
  • a simple map with the sign-in table, restrooms, the indoor shelter spot and the meeting point
  • the emergency plan, including the fieldhouse lockdown plan

These are part of the launch checklist. We won't publish room names or entrances until they're confirmed.
