Station board Spot puts a kid on every family's screen

Kids normally arrive through online registration (approve them under Families). Add a kid here only with paper forms on file. First name and last initial only. In-room screens with today’s room code can see the board; families see only their own child.

      How the Lab works

      The shape of every class

      • Nine short blocks with a movement break in the middle. Short and predictable is by design: it frees attention for the music.
      • Groups of four share a controller. Jobs (DJ, Co-pilot, Hype, Logger) rotate every 3 minutes 45 seconds, so everyone gets a turn on the decks.
      • Mistakes are called “Data!” When a mix crashes, the DJ names one reason and tries again.
      • No grades and no paper tests. Kids rate themselves and show skills to a mentor for Passport stamps.

      Safety

      • Headphone volume is capped on every laptop. Earplugs are available.
      • Clean lyrics only: radio edits, checked when crates are built.
      • Every adult mentor is background-checked. Two adults are always in the room.

      The gear

      • One beginner DJ controller per station, with visual guides that help kids line up beats by eye before ear.

      • Graduation gives a guaranteed Open Decks slot at Rainbow Wednesdays, then the Youth Showcase open call, then the Theme Clash semifinals and Finale.
