Rainbow DJ Lab › The Journey

The Journey

What a 9-year-old and their parent experience in Rainbow DJ Lab, from before day one to graduation and after.

From first beat to first crowd

This section walks through the Lab the way your family will live it. Each page describes what your child does, what you do, and what to ask at dinner, using the real curriculum that runs in the live class app.

A note on timing: the Lab is proposed and not running yet. It will run year-round on Tuesdays, and children work through the Missions at their own pace, so "Mission 4" is a skill, not a calendar week. See the Schedule and the launch checklist.

The stops along the way

Stop Mission Color What happens
Before day one — — Forms, orientation, getting your child ready
Mission 1 1: Meet the Machine Red First time on the decks. Two songs, one fade, a DJ name.
Mission 4 4: Mix on the One Orange Starting the second song at exactly the right moment
Mission 8 8: Make a Third Song Green Long blends that sound like a brand-new song
Graduation 14: Rainbow Showcase (after all 42 stamps) Violet Your child plays their set for a real crowd, and you're in it
After — — Open Decks and what comes next

What stays the same every Tuesday

  • The same 9 blocks, in the same order: Drop In, Mission Card, Watch Me Think, Deck Time 1, Move Break, Deck Time 2, Wordplay Lab, Spotlight, Check Out. See Curriculum.
  • The same safety routine: you sign your child in, and they're released only to an adult on your authorized-pickup list after a photo ID check. See Arrival and sign-out.
  • The same small group: 4 kids per controller, rotating jobs every 3 minutes 45 seconds.
  • A home question every class, taken from that Mission's lesson. It's on each journey page, and in the optional recap email after class if you opt in.

Questions that work after any class

These come straight from the class app, one for each block:

  • What was the first song you heard when you walked in?
  • What was today's Mission, and did you guess the difficulty right?
  • What was the coach thinking about while they mixed?
  • What job were you on first: DJ, Co-pilot, Hype or Logger?
  • What was the move break today? Show me.
  • Did you go mild, medium or spicy? Why?
  • What was the best pun in the room today?
  • Who played in the Spotlight? What glow did they get?
  • What's your "Next time I'll…" sentence?
