Reaching Us During a Session
How to reach Rainbow DJ Lab staff while class is running, how staff will reach you, and how quickly to expect a response.
If it's an emergency
Call 911 first. Then call the Lab.
How to reach us during class
| Lab phone | Stephen Henry, 872-255-9333 (call or text) |
| stephen@selassiefest.com (not for anything urgent during class) | |
| In person | Come to the check-in table. You're welcome any time under our open-door policy |
Once staff are hired, each class will also have a named lead on site. We'll share that person's contact details with registered families before the first class. We won't name anyone until they're hired and screened.
Calling during class. Adults are actively supervising, so the phone may not be answered on the first ring. If you don't get an answer, text and say if it's urgent. One adult always stays with the group while another answers.
Changing who picks up. Please tell us in writing (text or email) before pickup, and make sure that adult is on your authorized-pickup list. We can't add a new adult by phone at the door.
How we reach you
We use the phone number and email you give at registration. Keep them up to date.
| Situation | How we reach you | When |
|---|---|---|
| Your child is hurt, sick, or something has happened | Phone call | Right away, and the same day at the latest. A written incident report follows within 24 hours |
| Your child can't be found | Phone call | At once, while staff search (Code Adam–style plan) |
| Behavior: parent-call step, or any safety violation | Phone call | During class |
| Epinephrine used | 911, then a phone call to you | Immediately |
| Weather cancellation | Phone, text or email | As soon as the decision is made. See weather and cancellation |
| Session recap | Email, if you opted in | After class |
If we can't reach you, we call your emergency contacts.
Response times
These are our standards once classes are running:
- During a session, urgent: we answer or call back as soon as an adult can safely step away. Two adults stay with the children at all times, so the call never leaves kids unsupervised.
- Non-urgent questions: a reply within 2 business days.
- Data requests (to see, correct or delete your information): within 10 business days. See your data rights.
- Safety concerns: see report a concern. Concerns about possible abuse are reported straight to the DCFS Hotline, 1-800-25-ABUSE (1-800-252-2873), and staff don't need anyone's permission to make that call.
