Feedback and "You Said, We Did

How Rainbow DJ Lab collects feedback from families and kids, how it gets acted on, and the report we publish each season.

Why we ask

You see things we don't: how your child talks about class at home, what's confusing about pickup, what made them want to come back. We want to hear it, and we want you to see what we did with it.

The Lab is still proposed and not running yet, so there's no feedback from classes to report. You can already give feedback on these policies, and we'd welcome it now, before anything starts.

How we collect feedback

When How Who
Any time Phone, text or email to Stephen Henry (872-255-9333, stephen@selassiefest.com), or a word with staff at pickup Families
Every session Kids' traffic-light self-rating and "Next time I'll…" line at Check Out. These show us which skills need another pass Kids
Family progress observations The progress check-in, a conversation about your child's progress, where we also ask how the Lab is working for your family Families and kids
End of season A short survey (paper or online) about safety, communication, pickup, teaching and fun. Your name is optional Families and kids
If you withdraw We'll ask, if you're willing, what led to the decision Families

Worried about safety? Don't wait for a survey. Report a concern. For a formal complaint, use the grievance procedure.

What happens to your feedback

  1. We read all of it. Stephen Henry reviews every piece of feedback.
  2. Safety comes first. Anything about safety is handled under our safety policies right away, not saved for a report.
  3. We sort it into three groups: changing now, changing next season, and not changing, and here's why.
  4. We report back in the "You said, we did" report.

The "You said, we did" report

After each season, we'll publish a short report for families with:

  • the main themes of what families and kids told us
  • what we changed, and when
  • what we decided not to change, with an honest reason
  • what we're still working on

Reports never name a family or child. Quotes are used only with permission and without names.

Reports will be posted on this page and sent to families of that season. No reports exist yet, because no season has run.

Feedback from kids

Kids' opinions count. At Check Out they tell us what clicked and what didn't, and in the end-of-season survey they get their own questions, written for their age. Kids can also tell any adult they trust, or tell you and you can pass it on.
