Chicago Park District Permits

Status: Pending. The Chicago Park District has not approved or permitted the Rainbow DJ Lab. Approval and the permit or agreement for space are required before the first class.

Where things stand

• The Lab is proposed as part of Full Spectrum at Rainbow Beach, a proposed year-round music and culture program at Rainbow Beach Park (3111 E. 77th St., Chicago, IL 60649; Chicago Park District, South Region; 7th Ward).
• No permit has been issued.
• No space has been reserved.
• No class dates are set.

What we need from the Park District

1. Approval of the program at Rainbow Beach Park.
2. A permit or agreement for space, of whatever kind the Park District decides is right, covering: - the fieldhouse, for indoor classes when space is available (fall through spring); - the park lawn, for outdoor classes in summer.
3. Any other permission the Park District requires, such as for amplified sound outdoors or for the family showcase at the end of the course.

We will apply for exactly what the Park District tells us is required. We will not guess or list permit types here before the Park District confirms them.

Related requirements

• An insurance certificate naming the Chicago Park District as additional insured (item 2).

When permits are issued

We will post on this page:

• each approval or permit, with its date and what it covers (dates, times, spaces);
• any conditions the Park District attaches, and how we will meet them;
• any expiration dates, so families can see that permission stays current.

If a permit lapses or is withdrawn, classes stop until it is renewed, and we will say so here.
