The games our elders played are a library written in bodies and voices. Pickney Time keeps that heritage alive three ways: selected games brought to life on the festival grounds, one day each year when the generations play together, and ten summer weeks when children learn it deep.
A hand-picked selection from the full Jamaican games archive, physically set up and playable right on the festival grounds — face painting, drum-making, ring games, and more, brought to life for the day. Which games make the cut for 2027 is still being decided.
One day a year, the elders come to play. Ring games, yard games, and toy-making — grandparents, parents, and pickney side by side, passing heritage the way it has always moved: in person, in play.
About Sports Day →A full-day cultural day camp where the games archive comes alive — games, music, storytelling, nature, and a heritage showcase, with sliding-scale tuition so no child is turned away.
