Shift Options & Commitment

Morning Shift

5:30 AM – 10:30 AM (dawn setup + gate opening). Best for early risers. Includes sunrise groundation.

Mid‑Day Shift

10:00 AM – 3:00 PM – Peak festival action. Help with workshops, marketplace, main stage flow.

Evening Shift

2:30 PM – 8:00 PM – Support the sunset concert, sound clash, and closing ceremony.

Setup / Breakdown Crew

Work before the festival (July 24, 2–7 PM) or after (July 25, 9–11 PM). Great for those who want lighter crowd interaction.

Each volunteer commits to one 4‑5 hour shift. You may request a preference, and we’ll do our best to accommodate. Shifts are assigned 2 weeks prior to event.

Volunteer Requirements & Code

Eligibility

  • Must be at least 18 years old (16+ with guardian permission)
  • Complete online orientation & sign liability waiver
  • Arrive 30 minutes before shift start for check‑in
  • Able to stand/walk for extended periods (accommodations available)

Volunteer Code of Conduct

  • Respect festival values: One Love, anti‑discrimination, peace
  • No alcohol/drugs while on duty (cannabis only in designated zones after shift)
  • Maintain professional, friendly attitude at all times
  • Report any issues to volunteer coordinator immediately

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous festival experience?
No, we provide full training and on‑site orientation. A positive attitude and willingness to help are all you need.
Will I be able to watch performances?
Yes! Your shift is scheduled so you have at least 4–5 hours of free time to enjoy the festival. Many roles also have scenic views.
Is parking provided for volunteers?
Free volunteer parking lot (first come) near the venue. Carpooling encouraged. If you take public transit, we offer a small transit stipend after your shift.
What should I wear/bring?
Wear your volunteer t‑shirt (given at check‑in), comfortable closed‑toe shoes, hat, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle. Bring a rain poncho if needed.
Can I volunteer with a friend?
Absolutely. Mention your friend’s name in the application’s “special notes” or have them apply separately and note your name. We’ll try to schedule you together.
Will meals be provided?
Yes, one meal voucher per shift plus unlimited water. Additional food can be purchased at discount (volunteer pricing).
What if I need to cancel after being accepted?
Please email volunteer@selassiefest.com as soon as possible. No penalty, but we appreciate at least 48 hours notice so we can fill the spot.
