Executive Leadership Team

The Executive Leadership Team implements the strategic vision set by the Board of Directors and manages the day‑to‑day operations of Selassiefest. These three roles work collaboratively to ensure the festival's success, financial health, and community impact.

🎯 Executive Director / CEO

Reports to: Board of Directors

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads strategic planning and execution of the festival's mission.
  • Hires and supervises all staff (full‑time, seasonal, and volunteer leads).
  • Manages organizational budget, fundraising, and financial sustainability.
  • Serves as primary spokesperson and cultivates donor/sponsor relationships.
  • Ensures legal compliance (tax filings, permits, insurance).

Full‑time, salaried position

🎭 Artistic Director / Curator

Reports to: Executive Director

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and curates all festival programming (music, speakers, workshops, cultural exhibits).
  • Manages talent booking, artist relations, and performance schedules.
  • Collaborates with community partners to ensure authentic cultural representation.
  • Oversees stage design, sound, lighting, and overall attendee experience.
  • Works with Marketing to promote the artistic vision.

Full‑time or seasonal (6‑9 months)

  • Oversees operations, human resources, and administrative systems.
  • Manages vendor relations, logistics, facilities, and safety protocols.
  • Supervises finance, IT, and volunteer coordination teams.

  • Ensures operational efficiency and risk management.
