Courtney Panton hails from Port Antonio, Jamaica, where his musical journey began at the tender age of 9, playing keyboards in a gospel band. By 16, he had switched to bass and joined the popular Fresh Band, becoming a staple in the Port Antonio circuit.
At 19, Courtney took his talents to the high seas, performing on cruise ships for seven years across three different lines, traveling the Caribbean and honing his craft as a professional musician.
Under Courtney's leadership, Indika became the go-to backing band for major reggae artists touring the Midwest, earning multiple awards including the Martin Intercultural International Awards for Best Band and Best Performance.
Though he stepped back from full-time duties about five years ago, Courtney still performs select special shows — like the upcoming SelassieFest — keeping the spirit of roots reggae alive.
Any major artist coming to the Midwest, they seek out Indika Reggae Band. That's the legacy we built.
