Ricardo Phillips, known on stage as Champagne, is a professional drummer whose rhythmic journey began in the heart of Jamaica. From the age of 13, Ricardo was immersed in the pulsing energy of church music, laying the foundation for a career that would span continents and genres.
His path took him from gospel bands in high school to the vibrant reggae resort circuit of Jamaica in his early 20s. For nearly a decade, he performed full-time at hotel resorts, honing his craft alongside some of the island's finest musicians.
Today, Champagne continues to back some of the most respected names in international reggae, while remaining deeply connected to his gospel roots — a testament to his versatility and soul.
Music is the bridge. From the church to the dancehall, from Jamaica to the world — the rhythm never stops.
