Youth & Family Science Grove

Budding Minds

A gentle, wonder-filled space for young learners and families — exploring plant biology, environmental science, and the cultural roots of the cannabis plant through hands-on discovery, art, and conversation.

Saturday, July 25th, 2026
9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
All ages welcome (youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)
Budding Minds is a dedicated family zone within Higher Learning Roots. We focus on science, respect, and curiosity — using age-appropriate language, hands-on models, and interactive stations. No consumption, no direct product exposure. Just learning and growing together.
For families & young explorers (recommended ages 6+). Budding Minds activities are designed to spark questions about botany, sustainability, and traditional plant knowledge.
Hands-On Learning

Discovery Zones

Rotating interactive stations where young scientists can touch, build, observe, and ask questions — all guided by experienced educators.

Trichome Treasure Hunt
Use real digital microscopes to explore the tiny “crystals” on leaves and flowers — learn why plants produce resin and how it protects them from the sun and pests.
20-min sessions | All ages
Leaf Anatomy & Press Art
Identify leaf shapes, vein patterns, and stomata under magnification. Create pressed-leaf art to take home while learning how plants breathe and drink.
Ages 6+
Soil & Seed Science
Build a mini germination bag, compare different soil textures, and learn what a seed needs to sprout. Take home a bean in a cup to watch it grow.
Ages 5+
Global Plant Stories
Storytelling circle about how humans have used hemp for rope, paper, and fabric for thousands of years — and why the plant is a friend to the earth.
