How It's Played

A fragrant, creative pastime common during citrus season. Children attempt to peel a whole sweet orange or tangerine in a single, continuous, unbroken spiral ribbon using their fingernails or a small dull knife. The resulting spiral is then carefully dried or manipulated into decorative shapes, rosettes, or toy snakes.

Cultural Roots

Fostered fine motor control, patience, and a sensory appreciation for local fruits, turning the process of eating a snack into an artistic challenge.
