How It's Played

Two empty, clean tin cans have a small hole punched through the center of their bases. A long piece of taut twine string is threaded through and secured with knots. When two children stand far apart keeping the string taut, acoustic sound vibrations travel down the line, functioning as a mechanical telephone.

Cultural Roots

A fun, tactile introduction to acoustic physics, utilizing a ubiquitous household staple (condensed milk used for Jamaican porridge and tea).
