How It's Played

A beautifully atmospheric evening toy. Older children take an empty, clean condensed milk tin and punch intricate geometric patterns into the sides using a nail. A wire handle is attached. On dark nights, a small candle or safe light source is placed inside, casting intricate, glowing patterns across yard walls as the child carries it.

Cultural Roots

Inspired by traditional Jamaican *Flambeau* torches and evening storytelling lamps, this toy allowed children to create their own visual light theater before electricity arrived in rural parishes.
