Materials
Discarded banana tree trunks and a machete (wielded by elders to cut the segments).

How It's Played

Improvised sports infrastructure. Instead of investing in formal wooden stumps, children cut three vertical slabs from a soft, fibrous, discarded banana tree trunk and stand them upright in the dirt. The soft, fleshy interior of the banana stem makes an excellent wicket because it cleanly absorbs the impact of incoming fast bowls without falling over too easily.

Cultural Roots

Reflects the agricultural landscape of communities surrounded by banana plantations, where farming byproducts provided immediate schoolyard sports gear.
