Dates are requested, not assumed. Final dates and park availability are set with the Night Out liaison.

Jackson Park — 63rd Street Beach

South
Address6300 S. Jean-Baptiste Pointe DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60637
Date requestedSaturday – Sunday, June 26–27, 2027
FormatFlagship weekend · documentary premiere

The subject of the film and the origin of the series. The 1919 Classical Revival beach house, its open balconies and loggias, and the lawn south of it hold the gallery walk, the performance area and the screen. The existing ADA beach walk and complimentary beach wheelchairs are already in place.

Rogers (Phillip) Park

North
Address7345 N. Washtenaw Ave., Chicago, IL 60645
Date requestedSaturday, July 17, 2027
FormatSingle day · screening + re-curated live program

22.35 acres with a field house, ball fields, courts and open lawn — the acreage a gallery walk, drum circle and dusk screening need on one day. A morning satellite drum session at Rogers (Phillip) Beach Park on Eastlake Terrace is offered if the liaison will permit two North-side points on the same date.

Humboldt (Alexander Von) Park

Central
Address1440 N. Humboldt Blvd., Chicago, IL 60622
Date requestedSaturday, August 14, 2027
FormatSingle day · screening + re-curated live program

The park’s inland beach and Jens Jensen prairie-river lagoons make the comparison to a lakefront beach literal rather than metaphorical. Programming and printed materials at this site run in English and Spanish, curated with the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture as anchor.

All three requested dates deliberately avoid July 24, 2027, the date of the organization’s own festival, SelassieFest 2027 (venue to be confirmed), which runs under its own permit.

Companion editions

Rogers (Phillip) Park and Humboldt Park each run from noon through the dusk screening on a single day, loading in and out the same day. The structure holds — gallery, drum circle, spoken word, open mic, music, screening — but the artist roster is re-curated locally at each site, with the anchor partner in that community leading recruitment.
