More than fifty years of Bongo Beach history lives in photo albums, shoeboxes, and memory — not in any museum. This is where we start collecting it, before it's lost.

Oral History Archive
We're collecting stories directly from the people who built this tradition — longtime drummers, Woodlawn and Hyde Park residents, and anyone who remembers Bongo Beach across the decades. Ras Tafari Inc., the organization behind this council, has run a similar oral history project for SelassieFest's own history, and we're bringing that same care to 63rd Street Beach.
If you have a story to share — however small — reach out, or submit a photo below and mention you'd like to talk.
