Founded in Harlem in 1937 under the advisement of Emperor Haile Selassie I, the EWF has stood for over eight decades as a charitable organization dedicated to unity, solidarity, liberty, freedom and self‑determination for Black people worldwide — the same roots and spirit that ground SelassieFest's celebration of Rastafari culture and community.
