Be the catalyst for their beginning
Rainbow Beach, South Shore, Chicago.
From Ras Tafari Inc., a South Side 501(c)(3)
That first moment behind the decks.
- The headphones go on.
- The next track is ready.
- A mentor offers a quiet nod.
Imagine the smile when the transition lands and the child looks up to see their family dancing.
An imagined moment that shows the planned program. It is not a story about a real child or a past event.
A place to discover what they can do.
- Rainbow DJ Lab: free, every Tuesday, 4 to 6 pm, opening January 12, 2027. 14 Missions and 42 Passport skills, a dedicated station for each child, and time to learn at their own pace
- Rainbow Wednesdays: planned free summer nights on the beach. Youth sets with DJ mentors, Chicago house-music heritage, paid neighborhood artists, and families gathering for free
Rainbow Wednesdays is planned for summer 2027. Dates and space are not yet confirmed by the Chicago Park District.
The whole neighborhood gets to cheer.
- A young person at the decks.
- A proud family in the crowd.
- South Shore celebrating its own.
Rainbow Wednesdays brings the learning into a shared public experience at Rainbow Beach.
More moments worth being there for.
Our first-year plans create room for learning and family celebration.
Class seats are session places, not distinct students. Both numbers are planning targets, not results, and the summer dates depend on Chicago Park District approval.
What your generosity makes possible.
- Time to learn: patient instruction and encouragement from mentors
- A station of their own: a dedicated deck, laptop and headphones for every child
- A first audience: sound, guest DJs and neighborhood arts at the park
- A welcoming experience: the planning and practical support behind each gathering
Scott, this beginning can be yours.
The program is designed and the park is the place. What it needs now is a source: the stations, the mentors' time and the first audience.
You could be the one who makes all of it real, and then share a night at Rainbow Beach with friends, watching young talent take its first steps because of you.
The one people call when they need a DJ.
- The first call: when a friend asks, "Do you know a good DJ?", you know the talent, you know their development, and you can open the door
- A living legacy: the songs you grew up with, reinterpreted by young DJs who know where they came from
- Front-row seats: rehearsals, heritage listening sessions and first public sets, with clear reports on skills, performances and spending
- First bookings: your introductions can become the first paid opportunities for performers who are ready, with program safeguards
The deepest return is continuity: a song from your youth comes through a young person's 2027 set, and you helped make that exchange a relationship.
A gift does not create ownership, royalties or a share of students' future earnings. Any other arrangement would be separate and explicit.
The Full Spectrum Founding Circle.
A private circle of supporters, each giving at the level they choose, with a shared goal of $150,000 in deposited donations to Ras Tafari Inc.
- Give: every person chooses their own gift. No required levels
- Introduce: each supporter invites two or three people they trust, never as a condition of giving
- Gather: small conversations and heritage listening sessions where friends hear the plan and meet the team
Your role: Founding Connector. You open the first doors; Ras Tafari handles follow-up, processing, acknowledgments and reporting.
Easy to give. Easy to share.
- A direct giving page: card, PayPal, Venmo, check, or a call for larger gifts and equipment
- A ready-to-send introduction: a note you personalize and forward in one click
- All the tax paperwork: our IRS determination letter, EIN, and written acknowledgment of every gift, so friends can deduct with confidence
- Honest progress: cash deposited toward the $150,000, with pledges and in-kind support reported separately

Everyone finds their own connection.
- For some, it is the music.
- For others, it is a child finding confidence.
- For others, it is South Shore coming together.
Support can follow the part of the story that means the most to you.
The joy continues after the gift.
You stay part of the story, not just the first chapter.
What we plan to share with you- Milestones: the first Passport stamps, first full sets and first showcase performances
- Invitations: rehearsals, heritage listening sessions and public showcases, with seats for you and your friends
- Your song, their set: nominate a track that matters to you and hear how a student reinterprets it
- Clear reports: attendance, skills demonstrated, performances completed, student feedback and exactly how support was spent
- A say in what's next: a well-documented first year shows where to grow, whether more stations, instructor training or more sessions
Stories and photographs will respect family consent and student privacy.
Scott, you can be the spark.
Imagine hearing that first set, and knowing your generosity is what made the beginning possible.

Three purposes, one circle.
- Equip the next generation: dedicated student DJ stations, supporting technology and dependable music resources
- Bring heritage into the future: instruction and paid guest artists who connect earlier music with contemporary sounds and techniques
- Build a foundation for continuity: operating capacity and reserves that help the program plan, deliver and pursue additional funding
The final allocation follows the board-approved budget. Equipment donations and sponsorship commitments are tracked separately from cash.
